And Claire Danes has revealed she was sent a flood of messages from Anne Hathaway begging for forgiveness for the way she lampooned the Homeland star in a Saturday Night Live sketch.
Ironically the new mother has been so busy looking after her one-month-old son Cyrus she has not even had a chance to see the offending skit, despite it airing last November.
A natural: Anne Hathaway's hammy acting style
came in handy when she mocked Claire Danes on SNL but she has sent her
friend a string of apology messages
She said: 'I’m friends with Anne, and she sent me a lot of texts beforehand that say, "Oh God, I hope we’ll be friends afterwards."'
The Dark Knight Rises favourite wore a blond wig as she mocked Danes’ Homeland character Carrie Mathieson, a part which has won her two Golden Globes and an Emmy.
She made fun of the pained grimace she frequently uses on the show to portray the bipolar CIA operative, including a 'chin wobble' and a contorted expression a character described as like 'her whole face is chewing gum.'
It cashed in on an Internet trend of posting pictures of Danes’ sobbing throughout her career, which led to the website The Claire Danes Cry Face Project.
No problem: Claire said she is not offended by Anne's spoof even though she has been to busy to watch it
She said: 'It’s just the way feelings register on my face. It’s been isolated from the rest of my work, like it’s a tacked-on thing. It’s not.'
And she said has no intention of falling out with her 30-year-old chum over something as harmless as a comedy skit, even though she is yet to see it.
She said: 'She sent me a very large bouquet of flowers. So I’m assuming it was not the most flattering description.'
Glass houses: Theatrical Anne will no doubt find she is a figure of fun for comedy writers due to her turn in Les Miserables
