The late Nirvana front man and “Father of Grunge Music” Kurt Cobain is set to be immortalized on the silver screen. Moves are being made with Oran Moverman, the Oscar nominated Director of “The Messenger” and his currently holding negotiations with Universal Pictures to rework the screenplay.
Screenwriter David Beinhoff has been on the project since 2007 and has interviewed many of Cobain’s old friends from Aberdeen and Seattle during his research. The 2001 biography Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain by Charles R. Gross which has been approved by Cobain widow Courtney Love will supply most of the material for the film,
In 2005 Gus Van Sant made a fictional account of the end of Cobain’s life with “Last Days” showing the slide into oblivion of a drug fueled rock star that wasn’t Kurt but was similar to the accounts of the stars tragic demise.
Moverman has shown his craftsmanship in screenwriting having worked on the scripts for I’m Not There, Jesus Son and Married Life
